Computer model for monitoring and optimation of backup roll performance
Original language description
The prezentation deals with a fatigue of backup rolls and with a prediction of length of the roll campaign. Loads acting on backup rolls degrade their surface layer which can lead to spalling or even severe cracks of the rolls. To prevent this method ofestimation of an accumulated damage has been developed and tested and will be presented. This method in form of a computer program enables to identify the most stressed parts of backup roll surface and calculates an accumulated damage caused by every strip of the backup roll campaign. Further on a suitable length of the backup roll campaign is predicted and a minimum dressing amount is estimated. By this way it is possible to increase the performance of backup roll and reduce the danger of spalling.
