Workshop RADOIL - Associated workshop “Radon as a Natural Tracer for Monitoring NAPL Contamination”
Original language description
In 2025, the project team organized a workshop titled “Radon as a Natural Tracer for Monitoring NAPL,” which took place as part of the radon conference titled “17th International Workshop on the Geological Aspects of Radon Risk Mapping – GARRM” in Prague. This was an international conference held in Prague from September 15–18, 2025. As part of this conference, a half-day workshop titled “Measurement of Radon in Soil Air as an Indicator of Oil Contamination” was organized on September 18, 2025. The workshop took place at the Czech Technical University in Prague, at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (Břehová 7, 115 19 Prague 1). The workshop program was as follows: 9:00 – 9:30 Michael Schubert (Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung – UFZ): Radon as efficient environmental tracer for subsurface NAPL contamination and in-situ remediation assessment – an overview lecture 9:30 – 10:00 Paola Tuccimei (Università “Roma Tre”): Employing a multi-method approach consisting of soil radon deficit, resistivity, and induced polarization measurements to track NAPL pollution in two regions in Italy and India. 10:00 – 10:30 Martina Mattia (Università “Roma Tre”): Integrating Radon Deficit, NAPL Concentration, and Dynamics of Groundwater Table for Evaluating Soil and Aquifer Pollution from NAPLs 10:30 – 11:00 Coffee break 11:00 – 11:30 Jan Kukačka (DEKONTA, a.s.): Pilot site case studies (RADOIL project) 11:30 – 12:00 Radek Červinka (DEKONTA, a.s.): Methodology for evaluation of field measurements (RADOIL project)
