The lecture were evaluated opportunities and challenges composting of biodegradable plastics. Conclusions: - Not all biodegradable plastics are compostable. - Disintegration time declared by the pmanufacturer is only valid for the optimum conditions (temperature, humidity, radiation) - Commonly used composting technology (belt piles) are not usable for the treatment of biodegradable plastics without pretreatment of bioplastics.
