Cryopreservation is a promising method for storage of germplasm of fruit trees. Encapsulation-dehydration was used for hardened in vitro cultures of apples and pears. After dehydration of encapsulated shoot tips to the glass transition level the regrowthover 54% in apples and 67% in pears was obtained
