P-HL Dwarfing Rootstocks for Sweet Cherries
Original language description
Three dwarfing rootstocks for sweet cherries were selected from a hybrid material of Rtynska Ptacnice in RBIP Holovousy. These rootstocks are used for intensive growing systems. Trees on these rootstocks require good orchard management. All selected rootstocks show resistance to winter frost. Sensitivity to fungal disease Blumeriella jaapii is comparable to Prunus avium rootstocks. Traditional methods of propagation do not give satisfactory results. It is possible to propagate these rootstocks using invitro culture. P-HL rootstocks have good compatibility with most sweet cherry cultivars. P-HL-A Tree size is reduced by 70 % compared to F12/1 rootstock. P-HL-A rootstock induces very early fruiting of scions of sweet cherries and high yield. Life cycleof the plantation is 20-25 years.
