Resistance of apricot genotypes to brown fruit rot (Monilinia spp.)

  • Original language description

The objective of this study was to evaluate the resistance of apricot genotypes to brown fruit rot caused by Monilinia species on fruits. In total 47 apricot genotypes were evaluated in years 2009-2011. Results showed differences in resistance between tested apricot cultivars and hybrids to infections by Monilinia spp. both after artificial inoculations and in conditions of natural infections. Lower fruit brown rot injury was recorded both after artificial and natural infections on fruits of cultivars 'Kompakta', M 52 and 'Betinka'. On the contrary the most sensitive cultivars were 'Candela', 'Roxana', LSQUOMari de Cenad' and 'Veecot' both after artificial and natural infection by fungi from Monilinia spp.
