Biological control of apple scab (Venturia inaequalis) by bio-stimulants

  • Original language description

Apple scab, the most important disease in organic and conventional apple orchards, is caused by fungus Venturia inaequalis (Cooke) G. Winter (1875) . Apple production is one of the traditional branches of the Czech fruit growing. In the Czech Republic, more than 6 875 thousand hectares of apple-tree plantations are recorded. Management of apple scab in conventional orchards currently depends on applications of fungicides. Plant protection products, for use in organic fruit growing, must comply with the principles for organic production. In this study we tested alternative fungicides, which activate the plant´s natural defense reactions against fungal infections.
