Poster on the 10th Cherry Symposium (June 1-5, 2025 Richland, Washington, USA) presenting a development of a new set of SSR markers for reliable sweet cherry genotyping. Whole-genome sequences of 299 cultivars were used for the identification of new, highly heterogenic SSR markers by MISA and Hipster software. Thirty-two highly heterogenic SSR markers representing all chromosomes were identified. Twenty-two of them have di-nucleotide repetition, 5 of them possess tri-nucleotide repetition and 5 SSRs show tetra-nucleotide repeat unit. Usability of new SSR markers for genotyping was verified by fragment analysis on a capillary genetic analyzer and results were statistically evaluated.
