The content and variability of important grain components, beta-glucans (BG), protein, and starch were evaluated in the grain of selected 8 varieties of hulled (Avena sativa, L.) and 7 varieties of naked oats (Avena nuda, L.), grown in the years 2017-2019 at the 6 localities in the Czech Republic. The present study pointed out that the most appropriate varieties with higher BG, protein and lower starch / BG ratio could be found among hulless oats of which the variety Marco Polo appeared to be the best. Individual localities differed according to the accumulation of monitored nutrients. In terms of the higher content of BG and protein, appeared to be the best locality Lipa u Havlickova Brodu. PCA analyses have shown a different structure of relationships among measured nutrients in hulled and naked oats, which appears to be useful in the choice of cultivation techniques aimed at maximizing the content of required bioactive compounds.
