On the Relationship between Globalization and Human Development
Original language description
The aim of this paper is to show the link between globalization and institutional quality. Globalization index (KOF) includes economic, social and political connections. Its metodology is covered in the first part of this paper. Human development index (HDI) as one of the parameters of institutional quality, combines three dimensions: average length of life and health, access to education and living standards. Its methodology is briefly covered in the second part of this paper. The third part of this paper compares the two above mentioned indicators and explores possible links between them. Although the results show that globalization is a strong economic phenomenon, it is important to keep in mind that it is not enough just to globalize countries whose rules and institutions are not functioning well, to support growth and decrease poverty.
