    The participation of macrocell activity on corrosion of steel in concrete

    It si generally known that redox reactions on passive metals including iron proceed at low exchange currents. The rate of oxygen reductions was measured as a function of potential of the metal electrodes under study using both potentiostatic and potentiodynamic techniques. Current densities on copper and nickel electrode are high; surprisingly, a high activity of corroding iron was observed. This indicates, that the rate of oxygen reduction was not always controlled by oxygen transport as is comonly observed in corrosion processes due to the low solubility of oxygen in aqueous electrolytes. The result show that effectiveness of the catode of the macrocell generated in rebar components in concrete depends not only on the rate od supply of atmospheric oxygen, but also on the catalytic properties of the macrocell material.

    Vliv makročlánků na korozi výztuže v betonu

    Potenciostatické měření pro různé kovové elektrody provedená s krokovou změnou potenciálů o 100 mV a s jeho výdrží na kontaktní hodnotě po dobu 120 s, ukázaly pro míchané suspenze cementu (20 g cementu v 400 ml vody) překvapivě vysoké hodnoty proudu, odečtené za těchto podmínek u železa. Toto ukazuje, že na rozdíl od mědi, niklu a chromoniklových ocelí je výskyt redukce kyslíku na železe ovlivněna nejen sycením transportu kyslíku, ale i katalytickými vlastnostmi materiálu makročlánku, který vzniká při korozi železa v míchané suspenzi cementu.
