Chlorides are one of the most significant corrosion stimulators. Many products are in contact with de-icing salts during its exploation ? mainly the vehicles and that the road infrastrucutures. There are standard methods for testing the resistance of materials and surface treatment against the effect of chlorides. There had been performed modified accelerated laboratory and atmospheric tests of deicing salts on basic structural metal ? carbon and weathering steels and zinc hot dip and thermal sprayed coatings and organic coatings. Paper gives comparison of results of various tests.
