Atmospheric corrosivity classification and long-term exposure programmes
Original language description
An atmospheric corrosivity system has been developed and covered by standards ISO 9223 ? 9226. The improvement of the standardized classification system was achieved by a careful evaluation and analysis of the results of the large exposure programmes. One of main goals was to find dose-response functions for corrosivity category estimation. Long term corrosion kinetics were derived using the power function model. Guiding corrosion values for the initial period of exposure and the steady state corrosionrates were calculated. Extensive analysis of the exposure data form the basis for the adjustment of the atmospheric corrosivity classification system.
