Stainless materials for flue gas desulphurization systems
Original language description
The strategy of this research is to study the behavior and to analyze the corrosion sensitivity of stainless steels and nickel alloys in the flue gas desulphurization (FGD). The most common FGD technology consists of scrubbing the gas containing SO2 withslurry of lime or limestone. In certain areas of the scrubber, the neutralization reaction is only partial and leads to local formation of sulphuric acid. This acid combined with chlorides and/or fluorides derived from the coal or from the water of theslurry produce aggressive environment.
