Original language description
A duplex system is the combination of two protective coating systems: a hot-dip galvanized coating followed by a topcoat of paint or powder coating which can provide long-term corrosion protection. In this paper there are a few examples of structures where the duplex system failed prematurely due to the unsuitable choice of a protective system, or poorly determined corrosivity of the exposure environment or improper surface preparation.
