Original language description
An exact measurement of crack length and growth considering effects of crack profile in thick specimens is an essential condition of a correct experimental evaluation of fracture properties or resistance against fatigue crack growth. As the first step ofan experimental programme on fracture resistance of nuclear pressure reactor steel with cladding, it was necessary to prepare well defined fatigue cracks. The development and verification of the method used is described in this contribution.
