Study of laboratory piercer adjustment on hollow semi-product parameters
Original language description
Experimental piercing tests were performed on a laboratory piercing mill (piercer) oriented on the effect of various adjustment to the piercer rolls. The specimens made from 4130 steel, 50mm in diameter and 200mm in length were used with a piercing plug, 38mm in diameter. The so-called forming angle which is the angle between the roll axes and the axis of the pierced specimen while in horizontal projection was focused, changing from -2 to 2 grades. Three sets of specimens were performed and the effect of the rolling reduction and the rolls position on the outer diameter and on the wall thickness of the hollow semi-product (pierced specimens) was evaluated. The outer diameter changed from -14 to 4 percent which accounted for the scale going from widening to constricting the input specimen diameter during piercing.
