HYDROGEN EMBRITTLEMENT EVALUATION BY FRACTURE MECHANICS APPROACH
Original language description
Historically, hydrogen embrittlement was evaluated with sour environment tests like HIC, SSC or slow strain rate test which are comparison based. With fracture mechanics we are able to obtain concrete parameter that quatifies resistance of material in given hydrogen (or different) environment and can already be used in component design or material selection. This article focuses on influence and methodology of high-pressure hydrogen evaluation. Evaluation is performed on pipeline steel by fracture mechanics approach using bolt-loaded CT specimen.
