The paper addresses the introduction of a digital automatic coupler and the technical requirements for an innovative rail freight car that will be the basis for a smart train. The truck must meet lower noise emissions, optimal weight, low operating costs, electropneumatic brake and logistics potential. A train assembled from such cars will achieve cost savings for operating professions, the processing of accompanying documents such as the vehicle report, braking report, technical inspection report of the car will be carried out automatically. The overall operating costs of rail transport will be competitive with road freight transport.
