Methodologies and Standards for Data Mining
Original language description
Methodologies and standards are defined in various domains to improve efficiency, assure correctness and reliability, or to facilitate communication. In the field of data mining, methodologies and standards of several types are used. Firstly, methodologies and standards are used on conceptual level to guide the analysts and data miners during the data mining process, assuring standardization between different applications and teams. Secondly, methodologies and standards are used on data and model levelas data and model interchange formats, assuring interoperability and sharing between different data mining tools. Third type of standards are programming tools and interfaces that allow to easy connect data mining tools with other systems, usually databases. The paper reviews the mostly used methodologies and standards for data mining of all three types.
