Blast resistant characteristics of concrete with different types of fibre reinforcement

  • Original language description

The paper summarizes the results of the development of advanced fibre reinforced concrete intended for the explosion resistant applications. An experimental research aimed at contributing to understanding of the effect of different type of reinforcementon the behaviour of high performance fiber reinforced concrete subjected to the blast load was carried out. The fine grained concrete matrix has been reinforced by various types of dispersed fibres ? metallic, mineral and polymer - with different length(6 ? 55 mm) (0.24 ? 2.16 in.) and their combination, while the volume content (3%) of fibres was kept. Physico-mechanical and explosion tests were performed on prismatic and slab shaped specimens and the effect of different kinds of reinforcement on blast resistance and mechanical performance of the concrete samples has been evaluated. Accelerations of the specimens within blast load were captured. The material characteristics and explosion test data obtained were used for creation of fi
