Method of Intensifying Cement Clinker Production
Original language description
The reduction of CO2 emissions is one of the main themes of the present day, even in the case of cement production. One of the possibilities is to reduce the energy demand during clinker burning. A reduction in burning temperature due to chemical additives can contribute to this. The paper deals with the combined addition of lithium and sulfur compounds, which reduce the burning temperature by 100 to 150 °C. Both elements significantly affect the clinker melt's physical parameters, and sulfur stabilizes the more hydraulically active monoclinic modification of alite M1. In addition, cement made from this clinker shows a significant increase in early strength compared to ordinary Portland cement. The compressive strengths after 1 day are about 100 % higher and after 2 days about 50 % higher than the reference Portland cement CEM I. It would allow a reduction of the clinker content in blended cements and thus further reduce CO2 emissions. X-ray diffraction analysis and optical microscopy methods were mainly used for the research.
