Archaeological excavations of Jihlava´s Early Modern fortifications (2003-2010)

In 2003-2010, in the built-up area of Jihlava several archaeological excavations were carried out which involved a part of the early medieval and modern town walls. The excavation in the Komenského Street 36 has exposed a fragment of the fortification inthe area of what was once the Špitálská brána (Spital Gate), the excavation at the Jihlava City Park construction site has documented one of the Jihlava bastions, and the excavation in the Brněnská Street exposed a fragment of the fortification of former Česká brána (Bohemian Gate).
