Collecting missions in collaboration with "National Programme on Conservation and Utilisation of Plant Genetic Resources and Agro-biodiversity" are an important tool in conservation of germplasm from natural habitats. Since 1993, a total of 2659 samplesof 53 genera of grasses have been gathered during collecting missions to different areas in the Czech Republic and abroad. The collecting resulted in increased percentage of wild accessions in the national germplasm collection of grasses from 1,4% in 1990 to 28,0% in 2006. Collected materials were used in research projects dealing with increasing biodiversity of grassland and preservation of endangered plant species and as potential breeding material in grass breeding.

Czech description

Sběrové expedice v rámci ?Národního programu konzervace a využívání genetických zdrojů rostlin a agro-biodiversity? mají velký význam při shromažďování planých materiálů z volné přírody. Od roku 1993 bylo během sběrových expedic v České republice i zahraničí shromážděno celkem 2659 vzorků 53 druhů trav. Výsledkem je zvýšení podílu planých materiálů v kolekci trav z 1,4% v roce 1990 na 28 % v roce 2006. Shromážděný materiál je dále využíván ve výzkumných projektech zabývajících se zvyšováním biodiverzitytravních porostů a uchování ohrožených druhů rostlin potenciálně využitelných pro šlechtění trav.
