Evaluation of Bulgarian alfalfa varieties grown under conditions of the Czech Republic
Original language description
Czech and foreign varieties and wild forms of cultural and related plant species were collected, described and preserved within the framework of the National Programme of Conservation and Utilisation of Plant Genetic Resources and Agrobiodiversity. Thisprogramme was financed and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. The description of tested varieties was focused on yield characteristics, yield-forming factors, morphological characteristics, quality and, eventually, also on the assessment of their health condition both in field crops and in individual plantations. Within the framework and in the course of this research project, altogether 12 Bulgarian varieties were acquired, tested, and described. There were more than 45 descriptors that were used to characterise these varieties. Their seed material is deposited in the National Gene Bank of the Czech Republic.
