Soil inputs and dynamic of humic substances in chernozems
Original language description
This study is aimed at evaluation of organic carbon dynamic after compost application. Object of study was heavily degraded Calcaric Chernozem (Velešovice) localized in the south region of Moravia in the Czech Republic, during the field experiment 2012–2016. The experiment was established in a sugar-beet growing region, the altitude of this locality was 298 m a.s.l. and the local climate was classified as warm and slightly arid. Values of long-term average annual precipitations and annual temperatures were 490 mm and 8.7 °C, respectively. Intensive agriculture caused huge erosion and the topsoil was mixed with parent material. Lack of nutrients and decreasing of humus was improved by compost application. Basic soil properties such as soil reaction and nutrients content were determined by potentiometric method and according to Mehlich III method. Total organic carbon content was determined by oxidimetric titration method. Humic substances content and quality were assessed by short fractionation method and by UV-VIS spectroscopy. Tukey test (STATISTICA 8.9) and one-way ANOVA analysis were used for data processing. Results showed statistically significant effect of organic input on to nutrients and humic substances content and soil quality.
