Utilization of bentonite in light soils affected by drought in order to increase yields and soil fertilization
Original language description
The CEC values confirm changes in the distribution of elements in soil complex, especially the sorption of basic cations on the mineral montmorillonite (bentonite). Rokle bentonite had a higher swelling capacity, therefore was able to absorb more water into its structure. However, the Černý vrch type was more stable due to content of major cations. The water stability of water aggregates was also higher with the application of Černý vrch bentonite. Thus, the Černý vrch type is probably more suitable in agriculture for longterm application. Nevertheless this statement require longer-term monitoring to demonstrate the suitability of a particular type of bentonite in agriculture. The maize yields were also highest at the highest application doses of bentonites.
