The global issue of climate change is closely related to agriculture practices. The search for sustainable technologies that mitigate climate change while maintaining crop production and increasing soil organic carbon stocks, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions, has led to the development of regenerative agriculture. This approach, aligned with the principles of carbon farming, aims to enhance the long-term capacity of soils to sequester atmospheric carbon (primarily CO2). The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of regenerative agriculture on several biological indicators of soil quality that are relevant to reducing the carbon footprint. A field experiment was conducted on previously conventionally managed arable land in a warm and dry region of the Czech Republic to compare two agromanagement systems over three years: (i) conventional tillage and (ii) a no-till regenerative system incorporating legumes as catch crops.
