The individualization of the industrial production requires a continuous development and improvement of technologies which make it possible to produce prototypes of final products rapidly. The prototypes must be produced from materials with the same chemical composition and microstructure as the final part. For the single-part and small-lot production of sheet metal parts,rapid prototyping and rapid tooling approaches combined with the hydroforming technology have been approved.Suitable hydroforming dies can be made using various approaches like CAD/CAM,casting, laser/plasma machining etc. from metals or other materials. Unlike the conventional deep drawing of sheet metal, only one half of the tool combined with a simple hold-down plate is needed for this technology. Through the one-side pressure affecting the sheet metal against the forming die trial parts can be produced very rapidly. Apart from this it is possible to produce small-lots of final products using this technology.
