The article focuses on severe plastic deformation (SPD) of low carbon (LC) steel performed at increased temperature. Geain refinement of ferrite structure is analyzed with respect to different initial structure of steel resulting form steel processing prior severe plastic deformation. Prior structure refinement has been achieved with multistep open die forging and uniform refined ferrite structure was obtained. The final grain refinement of steel structure was accomplished during warm Equal Channel Angular Pressing at 300°C, introducing different effective strain. The microstructure changes in depedence of strain level were evaluated by SEM and TEM methods. The high straining of steel resulted in extensive deformation of ferrite grains and formation ofgrain structure of submicron size.
