Strength and ductility of medium carbon steel after equal channel angular pressing
Original language description
Upon the ECAP pressing at 400°C of the AISI1045 steel the processes of dynamic recovery were developed with the formation of subgrains and isolated grains of submicron size having high angle boundaries. The fragmentation and partial spheroidization of the cementite lamellae was observed within pearlite colonies. Post-deformation annealing of the ECAP deformed steel caused the perfection of the recovered structure in ferrite grains and the further processes of fragmentation, spheroidization and coagulation of carbide phase. The submicron grain and subgrain microstructure of the steel causes a significant strengthening at retention of of satisfactory ductility.
