Effects of transformation-induced plasticity on residual stress distribution during induction hardening
Original language description
A 2D FEM model was employed to describe residual stresses induced by induction heating and quenching. Electromagnetic field, temperature field, stress distribution and microstructure distribution were examined. The calculation of residual stresses took into account phase transformations with changes in volume, latent heat and transformation-induced plasticity. Residual stress distributions in two scenarios were compared, where in one scenario, the effect of transformation-induced plasticity was taken into account and in the other it was neglected. The calculation was carried out using the DEFORM 3D software. Material data was obtained by means of the JMatPro software on the basis of chemical composition.
