    Digitization, preservation and online access to copyrighted works are lively topics in the knowledge society. The process of digitization of cultural heritage is besides its undisputed benefit in the form of possibility of permanent preservation of cultural heritage also connected with a range of copyright related issues. Moral rights, which are (in the continental system) part of copyright law, are the most sensitive legal obstacle to digitization and online disclosure of copyrighted works. In many cases, these obstacles cannot be overcome. Moral rights of authors can thus become a constraint on mass digitization of cultural heritage, which makes this issue relevant to whole society. This is the reason why is this paper focused on moral rights of authors. In this paper, the interpretation of moral rights is contextualised to violations of moral rights of authors, which must be prevented during digitization.
