Hydropolitical pathology of the Mekong River: Echoes of the tidehunters
Original language description
Presented analysis is focused on contemporary process of interstate hydropolitical interaction between six riparian states within the Mekong River Basin. The main aim of this article is to show hydropolitical attitude of supreme hydrocratic leaders and their hydropolitical approach towards other riparian states, and to point out to the incompatibility of current water cooperation based on over-exploitation and rapid hydro-power development of the Mekong River. In the paper, there will be applied the revised method of FHH which should reveal approximate hydro-hegemonic power distribution between riparian states, and which would highlight the hydropolitical stance of each riparian state towards China´s hydro-hegemony. The research results are derived from publication “Hydroillussion: transboundary conflicts over water through point of view of critical political ecology” which was financed by Internal Student´s Grant of Metropolitan University of Prague 2015/2016.
