The Department of Asian Studies at MUP and the Center for Indo-Pacific Studies organized another of its annual conferences dedicated to Asian countries on 11 November. The keynote spokespersons were selected from the two "branches" of this conference - a professor emeritus from the University of Delhi Malshri Lal debated the role of women in Asian societies, and Duncan McCargo, a major anthropologist and professor at Leeds University, lectured on the possibilities and limits of ethnographic research in Southeast Asia .
