Pitch range of intonation contours in English Czech
Original language description
Pitch range codes information that is indisposable for correct decoding of spoken messages. Differences in pitch range were found between foreign accented and native speech. The study reports on analyses of F0 tracks in the speech of Anglophone learners of Czech in contrast with comparable native Czech material. The results show significant differences which cannot be explained by the interference theory. Alternate causes are discussed.
