The monograph contains explanation of general concept of cyclical development of territories in the market economy, various theoretical approaches to the business cycle phenomenon and, external factors influencing cyclical development of countries. The global business cycle is interpreted as the economic situation prevailing at major global centers. The business cycle phases are analyzed with respect to main macroeconomic indicators. The development of national economies in business cycle combined with long-run trends is subject to special investigation. Attention is paid to business cycle indicators with respect to the division into leading, lagging and coinciding indicators. Non-conventional indicators are mentioned, as well. Business cycle modifications are presented with examples in recent decades. Main indicators are explained and accompanied with examples from latest development in territories. An important part of the business cycle analysis involves principles and practical tools of government policies, namely monetary policy, fiscal policy and foreign trade policy. Potential output and both possible gaps between potential and actual output (recessionary and inflationary gaps) are explained and demonstrated through examples of latest measures of government policies in different countries. Economic policies of integration groupings and pacts are included as well. Special attention is paid to indicators related to the economy of the Czech Republic. Indicators covering main spheres of the analysis of specific territories are demonstrated in multiple tables and graphs.
