East-Central Europe Searching for (European) Values: how to be More Than the "proud periphery"?
Original language description
The chapter focuses on the (re-)integration of East-Central Europe into the European architecture after 1989. It reflect above all the challengečs and obstacels for such integration. East-Central Europe is reflected as the semi-peripheral region where the modernization influence of Enlightenment faced strong resistance of conservative traditionalists. Also the Communist regimes in Central Europe after the WW II are reflected as such anti-modrn and anti-liberal actors. The analysis stresses that the obstacles and hurdles for the completed and stable liberal democracy rooted in modernization at least partly exist also in the Western part of the continent. Thus, the contemporary counter-revolutionary wawe is reflected as the all-European problem.
