Principles of the current concept of media literacy
Original language description
The chapter offers theoretical insight regarding conceptualizations and operationalizations of both media education and media literacy. It is interesting to note that the different ways in which media education is defined and evaluated are directly connected to the political environment, which, in turn, is a consequence of ideological choices made by those in power. Moreover, given the highly dynamic character of media, especially in the context of the rapid development of social media, it is important to constantly reconsider and update existing conceptualizations of media education and media literacy.
