    Lignite gasification ? Mathematical modeling of syngas equilibrium composition

    The aim of this work was to develop a mathematical model of gasification unit for purposes of SYNKOPE project. The objective of SYNKOPE project is to efficiently couple high-temperature reactor (HTR - generation IV nuclear reactor with high outlet temperature) with refining process, namely lignite gasification. Water vapor produced by HTR will be used as a gasification media in the gasification unit for lignite gasification. The mathematical model was developed in MATLAB environment and is based on thecalculation of chemical equilibrium, which plays an important role in a composition of syngas generated during gasification process. For the calculation of chemical equilibrium, non-stoichiometric approach was applied. It is based on minimization of Gibbs energy of the whole reacting system simultaneously with calculation of balance equations without considering stoichiometry of particular chemical reactions.
