Interaction of high chromium ODS steel with PbBi eutectic
Original language description
Heavy liquid metals such as lead or lead-bismuth eutectic are believed to be a promising coolant for either nuclear (lead cooled fast reactors) or non-nuclear (concentrated solar power) applications. However, the critical issue for successful development is the compatibility of structural materials with the liquid metal, due to the high dissolution rate of alloying elements. In order to evaluate the performance of 20Cr ODS steel PM2000, compared with conventional 9Cr ferritic-martensitic steel T91, we conducted long-term experiments in static PbBi and evaluated the extent of corrosion damage by SEM-FIB metallography. Our results are thus discussed as a function of the composition and the oxygen content in the melt on materials performance and their degradation modes. (Poster)
