Nuclear Fuel Rod Extraction Experiment
Original language description
The experiment devoted to the fuel rod extraction was meant to define the changes of the maximal force required for allowing the fuel rod extraction from the spacer grid cell in the case of the presence of fuel rod bow. The tests took place at the specially designed mockup which utilized stainless steel imitators of spacer grids and a fuel rod. The rod was pulled out of the three grids and the maximal force was measured. Each test comprised different bow of the rod that was simulated by the movement of the second spacer grid mockup. The outputs from the real experiment will serve for the FEM model validation and assessment of the applicability of the same modeling approach for real conditions.
