Test pieces manufacturing with fatigue cracks
Original language description
Article describes development of artificial fatigue flaws in test pieces and results from measurements. Our goal is to develop test pieces with flaws that have same look and behavior as fatigue flaws occurred in operation. Mechanically produced flaws, fatigue flaws from operation and artificially produced fatigue flaws are compared by phased array ultrasonic technology. Produced flaws have comparable echo response as the natural one. Thus they are very suitable for operators training and NDT technology calibration. Realistic test pieces leads to higher reliability of NDT results and safety.
