Modelling and Simulation of VVER-440 in Severe Accident Scenario Using MELCOR Code

  • Original language description

The following document describes the activity done in Research Centre Řež (CVR) team to prepare a VVER 440 model starting from Dukovany Final Safety Analyses Report (FSAR) and other source of information based on the already experience gained in modelling the VVER 1000 power plant. The model was originally modelled in MELCOR 1.8.5 and 1.8.6 and successive translated in MELCOR 2.1 and 2.2. In the first chapters, there are the descriptions of the system modelled from primary to the hermetic zone including the In-Vessel Retention procedure. In the last chapters, the steady state was compared with the data obtained from the FSAR in addition with a comparison of the Long-Term Station BlackOut Scenario maximized with the failure of the primary depressurization. The choose of this scenario was determined by preparing a similar scenario to the reference analysis done for the VVER 1000 power plant.
