A study on the corrosion behaviour of stainless steel 08Cr18Ni10Ti in supercritical water
Original language description
Austenitic stainless steel 08Cr18Ni10Ti is widely used in WWER reactor. Therefore, it was considered one of the prospective materials for supercritical water-cooled reactors. In this study, coupon specimens were exposed close to the critical point of water and high temperature of supercritical water. Corrosion behaviour was described based on the results of X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy involving chemical and crystallo-graphic analyses. In contrast to the thin oxide layer of approximately 1 mu m formed in water close to the su-percritical point, the localised form of corrosion was observed at the high temperature supercritical water.
