Hot issostatic pressing of AISI316L austenitic steel prepared by direct energy deposition technology
Original language description
Our study aimed to present the result of our first tests with the hot isostatic pressing of AISI316L austenitic steel prepared by direct energy deposition technology. Samples prepared by direct energy deposition technology were heat-treated in two ways. the first series of samples was processed by solution annealing with a temperature of 1090 °C and a holding time of 1 hour. The second series of samples was processed by hot isostatic pressing at 1100 °C, holding time 2 hours, and pressure 100 MPa. Changes in microstructure caused by heat treatment were evaluated by light optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and hardness testing. Results show that both types of heat treatment led to a decrease in hardness. The HIP process then led to a reduction of the porosity of samples. Presented at HIP 2025 : International conference on hot isostatic pressing, 6-10 april 2025.
