Achievements in Research on Vavilovia (Vavilovia formosa (Stev.) Fed.), a Legume Crop Wild Relative.
Original language description
The tribe Fabeae (syn. Vicieae) of the family of legumes (Fabaceae Endl) with more than 300 in total, contains numerous economically important species, such as Pisum, Lathyrus, Vicia and Lens. The remaining monotypic genus is Vavilovia formosa, an endemic legume species. The most commonly it was regarded as pea species and as consequence it has been most widely known under the names: Pisum formosum (Stev.) Alef., beautiful or perennial pea, Pisum aucheri Jaub. et Spach., Pisum formosum Boiss. or Pisum frigidum Alef. In this paper we have summarized all available information on Vavilovia formosa together with reports of new data from expeditions. The results provide basement for further research and exploration of this enigmatic species.
