Molecular taxonomy of the Tribe Fabeae. Book of abstracts of the 5th International Food Legume Research Conference (IFLRC) & 7th European Conference on Grain Legumes (AEP), Turkey
Original language description
Recent phylogenetic studies using chloroplast genes nested a monophyletic Fabeae within Trifolieae, with Trifolium sister to Fabeae. The precise generic boundaries between Lathyrus and the related genera have been much debated. In the case of Lens, closephylogenetic relationship to genus Vicia has been deduced from molecular marker analysis. Based on stylar characters and molecular data, Pisum has been shown to sit between Vicia and Lathyrus and is very closely allied to Vavilovia.Using sequences of four phylogenetically informative regions; the maturase K, trn L-F and trn S-G spacer regions of chloroplast DNA, and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear DNA in sample of 51 species of tribe Fabeae we investigated the relationships amongthe genera.
