Examination of the number of CL as the predictor of the amount of recovered embryos and embryo quality in cattle
Original language description
With superovulatory treatment we recorded size of ovaries and number of corpus luteum (CL) using palpation per rectum and embryo quality in flushed material. The total of recovered embryos was lower than the palpable number of CL in 44 cases, higher in 28 cases and 3 cases matched. This should be taken into account when decision about a donor is made or when hypothesis about competition between embryos are considered to explain ratio between embryo of different quality. Embryo quality did not differ between groups. Groups of donors were made on the base of count of CL (A group with 1?5 CL, B 6?10 CL, C 10?20 CL). There was low variability in the size of ovaries (64 from 72 ovaries measured 4 cm).
