Development of mastitis pathogens occurrence since year 1993 in the Czech Republic
Original language description
There were evaluated 7 sets of samples from 1993 to 31 June 2009 and included 13 774 investigated samples from dairy cows in total. From these results we can see that Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus uberis were the most frequently identified strain from all of them. S. agalactiae was the other most frequently identified strain over the year 1993 ? 2003 but its occurrence decreased to 5th and 6th place from the year 2004 (behind S. haemolyticus, L. garvieae and E. faecalis). S. aureus and S. agalactiae have been long considered the main mastitis pathogens in the Czech Republic. From these results, it is evident that S aureus persists as the main mastitis problematic pathogen. However, S. uberis and CNS (esp. S. haemolyticus) have become very important pathogens in mastitis disease replacing S. agalactiae.
